The beautiful Tudor building with all its facilities, including a chapel and a library, the verdant campus of nine
acres, and the peaceful, tranquil surroundings provide a proper setting not only for academic endeavor but also
for spiritual reflection at St. Nersess.
Although isolated from the busy life beyond, the campus is about one and one-half miles from business areas in
Eastchester, three miles from those in Scarsdale, and about four miles from the downtown business district of the
city of New Rochelle. More importantly, the Seminary is but a short train-ride away from New York City and its
cultural centers, St. Vartan Armenian Cathedral, the headquarters of the Eastern Diocese of the Armenian Church of
America, the Krikor and Clara Zohrab Information Center, and several schools of higher learning-some within closer
proximity. The Seminary is also within one hour of ten Armenian parishes. These are but some of the many advantages
of the location.
From George Washington Bridge:
bear immediately right to take Major Deagan/I-87 North (stay in the right lane, heading Upstate; this becomes NY
Thruway and exit numbers restart from 1). Take Exit 4, bearing right, to proceed to Cross County Parkway East.
This merges into Hutchinson River Parkway North; take Exit 17. Turn left at traffic light-North Avenue; bear right
and make a right turn at the next traffic light-Wilmot Road; turn left at the stop sign-following Wilmot Road.
Make a right turn at the second traffic light-Stratton Road. The Seminary sign is 1/2 mile ahead, on the left.
From I-287:
whether from New Jersey, eastbound after crossing Tappan Zee Bridge, or from Connecticut, westbound after exiting
from I-95, take Exit 9 to Hutchinson River Parkway South, then take Exit 19; turn right at the stop sign-Wilmot Road.
Make a right turn at the second traffic light-Stratton Road. The Seminary sign is 1/2 mile ahead, on the left.
From Manhattan:
proceed to FDR Drive North by taking an east-bound, even-numbered street (toward 1st Avenue) and turning left at
the last traffic light before the river. Take Exit 18-Willis Avenue Bridge; cross bridge and bear left to Major
Deagan/I-87 North (Upstate; this becomes NY Thruway and exit numbers restart from 1). Take Exit 4, then follow the
above directions as from George Washington Bridge.
From the airports:
whether from JFK (to Van Wyck Expressway North) or La Guardia (to Grand Central Parkway East), proceed to Whitestone
Bridge; cross bridge and bear left, following signs to Hutchinson River Parkway North; take Exit 17 and, for the immediate
area, follow the above directions as from George Washington Bridge. (The Westchester County Airport in White Plains is
the nearest and most convenient airport. From there, proceed to Hutchinson River Parkway South and take Exit 19, then
follow the above directions as from I-287).
From train stations:
disembark at the New Rochelle station when coming by Amtrak; disembark at the Crestwood station when coming by
Metro-North Railroad on the "Blue/Harlem Line" either from Grand Central Terminal in Manhattan (northbound) or from the
White Plains station (southbound). Taxis are available at both stations (or else, call the Seminary office: 636-2003).
TAKE A MOMENT TO PRAY for all who are studying at St. Nersess Seminary and all other seminaries of the Armenian Church. May God inspire them to loving leadership in the Church.
