The theology of the Armenian Church represents one people's understanding of the essence of the Gospel, which is the mystery of Jesus Christ. The Armenians have expressed their most fundamental faith convictions in literary works such as Biblical commentaries, sermons, doctrinal treatises, liturgical and spiritual writings, and canon law; but also in the sacred arts of the Armenian Church (manuscript illumination, khatchkars, church architecture, and music).
The objective of St. Nersess Armenian Seminary's Global Classroom is to invite you to learn about the Armenian Church's marvelous theological heritage; to discover the distinctive witness of Armenian Christianity; to uncover how the Armenians have formulated answers to humanity's most profound questions; and to apply these miraculous insights to modern life. From the traditional Armenian Orthodox perspective, theology is not a science or discipline. It is the process of coming to know a living being: the eternal God, through God's self-revelation in the Son of God, Jesus the Christ. The Armenian people have known God intimately. The St. Nersess Global Classroom seeks to help you to deepen your personal knowledge of God through the distinctive lens of the Armenian Church.
As the Global Classroom develops, we will provide audio and video recordings of lectures, classes, workshops and seminars on the whole spectrum of Armenian theology and Christian culture. As well, other resources will be posted regularly with the ultimate aim of providing opportunities for those at a distance from the Seminary campus to take full courses remotely.
To share your ideas and suggestions for the Global Classroom, and especially if you would like to subsidize, and thereby accelerate its development as a financial sponsor, please contact the Seminary at info@stnersess.edu or by phone at (914) 636-2003.
