Canon of Pentecost. The Seventh Day
(Ի հարաշարժ աղբերէն)
Tone 8

Translated by: Abraham Terian

Օրհնութիւն
From the ever-flowing Fountain,
O Holy Spirit, a distinct,
life-giving Stream;
blessed are you, True Light.

You came to the holy Upper Room on this day,
O True God;
you adorned the Apostles gracefully
with your glorious light, O Spirit.

The Apostles
filled with cheerful joy
sang in exaltation:
“Blessed are you, True Light.”

Upon the ascension of the Word to heaven
and his sitting at the right hand of the Father,
the cheerful Apostles bowed down,
blessing the Father, the Sender of the Word.

The assembly of the saints, gathered together
in the mystical Upper Room,
with their eyes lifted up, were waiting for the Spirit,
blessing the Father, the Sender of the Word.

The life-giving Fountain of Light
erupting suddenly, with a roaring sound,
adorned with the immortal Light of Life
those who were blessing the Father, the Sender of the Word.

Հարց
Uncreated Holy Spirit, glorified with the Father
and consubstantial with the begotten Son,
you are the incomprehensible God of our fathers.

You who are seated on the foursquare throne
and are in sanctity blessed by the fiery tongues,
you are the incomprehensible God of our fathers.

With love for mankind you descended as God on this day
and distributed the fiery tongues by resting on those in the holy Upper Room;
you are the incomprehensible God of our fathers.

Գործք
Bless the Lord,
lift him up,
the Spirit, True God.

The comforting Holy Spirit
who came down from the Father in lieu of the Only-begotten,
who adorned gracefully
the holy Apostles,
lift him up,
the Spirit, True God.

The heavenly streams flowed into the holy Upper Room
and, adorning the holy Apostles, armed them with divine fire;
lift him up,
the Spirit, True God.

Ողորմեա
O True Spirit,
you who fulfilled your divine directives
prefigured to David’s offspring
by making the Apostles drink
of your abundance in the holy Upper Room,
have mercy.

You who were sent by the Father,
Life-giving Stream
and True Light,
who made the sons of Zion drink
of the flow of your gentleness,
have mercy.

You who fulfilled the desires
of the hearts of those
who sat waiting
for your grand coming
in the holy Upper Room,
have mercy.

Տէր յերկնից
Who with light, immaterial wings
soars past
the fiery Seraphim
and with general supervision
cares for his creatures,
O Holy Spirit,
you are blessed by your creatures.

Who in your amazing brightness
are praised ceaselessly, vocally,
with the Father and the Son,
and who watches kindly over your creatures,
O Holy Spirit,
you are blessed by your creatures.

With your divine supervision, on this day
you roared through the Upper Room with the sound of wind,and by making the Apostles drink,
you were distributed to your creatures;
O Holy Spirit,
you are blessed by your creatures.

Համբարձի
The Holy Spirit always was and is and will be;
he neither had a beginning, nor will he have an end;
he is eternally ranked and numbered
with the Father and the Son;
and is forevermore blessed.

He has always been accepting, sanctifying,
perfecting, and deifying;
he is eternally ranked and numbered
with The Father and the Son;
and is forevermore blessed.

Ever-moving, self-moving, of his own will,
Sovereign, Almighty;
for he blows wherever he wills,
whenever and as much and as long as he wishes;
and is forevermore blessed.

He is of himself, ever the same
with those among whom he is ranked;
unseen, eternal,
unchangeable, immutable;
and is forevermore blessed.

Without quantity,
without quality;
invisible,
impalpable;
and is forevermore blessed.

Lord, Sender, Determiner,
Builder of his own Temple;
leading, strengthening,
distributing gifts as he wills;
and is forevermore blessed.

Life and Giver of Life,
Light and Giver of Light,
Absolute Good, Spring of Goodness;
the rightly guiding Spirit;
and is forevermore blessed.

Spirit of power and awe,
by whom the Father is known and the Son is glorified;
one rank, one honor, one devotion,
perfection, holiness;
and is forevermore blessed.
