Floods and Frost Cannot Stop Niagara Falls Community from Badarak and St. Nersess
Faithful of St. Sarkis Armenian Church--Junior and Senior--Surround Fr. Stepanos Doudoukjian | The day before a scheduled February 17th Badarak and St. Nersess program at St. Sarkis Armenian Church (Niagara Falls, NY), a water main pipe broke and flooded the basement of the church hall. Would those floods stop the church community from worshiping the ancient, yet life giving Armenian Badarak? No. Would windy, freezing weather and ice mist coming off Niagara Falls close the church doors on Sunday morning? No. As a matter of fact, nothing will stop this small, yet strong and determined community from praying and worshiping in their church, which has existed for over a half a century. This small but mighty community plans to provide spiritual nourishment to current and future generations of Armenians in the Niagara Falls region for years to come. |

Later that day, an informal gathering took place at the Maggorie home, where members of the parish council and community enjoyed brunch and a discussion of the meaning of Orhnetseets uzDer hamenayn zham, the last hymn sung during the Divine Liturgy. The conversation focused on the question, "How can I bless the Lord at all times"?
The St. Nersess visit provided spiritual nourishment to a hungry and thirsty community. What's more, it stirred a handful of youngsters from the St. Sarkis community to attend the St. Nersess Summer Conferences this summer.
