St. Nersess Armenian Seminary will once again hold its annual Father’s Day Picnic on Sunday, June 19. This traditional Armenian-style picnic will feature live Armenian music by a talented, all-star ensemble including Dick Barsamian, Harold Hagopian, Sevan Simonian, and Jim Dardouni.
Delicious luleh and chicken kebob meals, complete with choice of rice or bulgar pilaf, will be served under a spacious tent on the beautiful grounds of the Seminary in New Rochelle, NY.
“The St. Nersess Father's Day Picnic has turned into an anticipated family tradition celebrating all of our fathers while supporting our Seminary and supporting its efforts to prepare our future spiritual fathers,” said Very Rev. Fr. Daniel Findikyan, Dean. “We expect hundreds of people to enjoy an afternoon filled with fellowship, good food and lively activities for all."
The day will begin with Divine Liturgy celebrated at 10 a.m. in the Seminary chapel, followed at noon by picnic festivities. There will be children and teen activities held throughout the afternoon, along with vendors selling an array of items, including the popular “Armenian Vendor” Baykar Dervishian. A White Elephant sale will also take place simultaneously on the grounds.
Merchant and general sponsorships are being secured to help underwrite the cost of the picnic so that all proceeds on the day of the Picnic may directly benefit the work of St. Nersess, to prepare leaders in ordained and lay ministries for the Armenian Church in North America through graduate degree and continuing education programs.
This year, for the first time, the Seminary will hold a Super Raffle with winners being announced the day of the Picnic. Only 300 tickets are available for this raffle, with each ticket costing $50 each. The three cash prizes awarded will be $3,000, $1,500 and $500. To purchase your ticket, with great odds to win, call the Seminary office at 914-636-2003.
Parking and admission are free and the picnic will be held held rain or shine. Come celebrate our fathers — familial and spiritual —at St. Nersess on June 19.
