Participants of the Racine St. Nersess Evening and ACYOA Regional Conference The Mission of the Seminary "St. Nersess is an important institution in the Armenian Church of America. We need all of you, the young people of our church, to continue participating in the summer conferences and telling more people about the mission of the Seminary," said Dr. Raffy Hovhanessian, addressing the young people gathered at St. Mesrob. "Maybe some of you will even become seminarians one day," he was quick to add. Dr. Hovhanessian also mentioned the need to raise money for the Seminary in order to support all of its endeavors. On Friday, December 7, Fr. Stepanos led a Bible study and discussion on the birth of Jesus Christ. The evening was filled with fun and friendship. "This evening has changed my life," said one young participant from the Chicago area. Yeprem Kelegian, the parish priest; Fr. Tavit Boyajian, parish priest of Sts. Joachim and Anna Armenian Church (Palos Heights, IL); Dn. Levon Kirakosyan, Deacon-in-charge of St. James Armenian Church (Evanston, IL); Nancy Basmajian, ACYOA Executive Secretary; and Fr. Stepanos Doudoukjian, St. Nersess Director of Youth and Vocations. What's more, twenty veterans of the St. Nersess summer and winter conferences were on hand for the combined St. Nersess Day and the ACYOA Regional Conference. Fr. Dr. Hovhanessian was present again to speak to the participants, this time wearing another hat: as the Vice-Chairman of the Diocesan Council (Eastern). On Sunday morning, Fr. Doudoukjian celebrated the Badarak at another midwestern Armenian Church, St. George in Waukegan, IL. Serving with him at the holy altar and singing in the choir were many St. Nersess summer conference veterans. |
