On Monday, October 18, 1999, members of the Board of Directors with the faculty of St. Nersess Armenian Seminary joined His Eminence Archbishop Khajag Barsamian, Primate, in the service of the dedication of the new organ for the Seminary Chapel. The organ was donated by the Gomidas Organ Fund, through the efforts of Mr. Berj Zamkochian who was present at the service. He participated in the dedication service by playing the organ and accompanying the clergy and seminarians in the hymns of the service. Blessing the new organ, His Eminence Archbishop Khajag Barsamian prayed: "We your people, joyously gathered in this chapel, wish to join our voices to the universal hymn of praise. We present this organ for your blessing; grant that its music may lead us to express our prayer and praise in melodies that are pleasing to you." At the end of the service, Fr. Vahan Hovhanessian, Dean of the Seminary, thanked Mr. Zamkochian for his generous donation and his support of the mission and ministry of the Seminary.
The Gomidas Organ Fund was started by Berj Zamkochian in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Gomidas Vartabed. The Fund has dontaed and contributed in donating Organs to many churches throughout the world including an antiphonal organ to St. Vartan's Cathedral in New York.
St. Nersess Seminary wishes to extend an invitation to all the faithful to visit the Seminary Chapel and join the seminarians and faculty in the daily services, now enhanced with the new organ. The morning service is celebrated at 8:00 AM, and evening service at 5:30 PM.
