St. Nersess Seminarians and faculty will participate in the annual Oriental Orthodox Concelebrated Liturgy on Saturday, February, 2006 at St. Mark's Syrian Orthodox Cathedral in Teaneck, New Jersey.
The annual celebration is organized by the Standing Conference of Oriental Orthodox Churches. The conference brings together the bishops and clergy representatives of the North American Dioceses of the Armenian, Coptic, Ethiopian, Syrian, and Malankara Syrian Church of India. This family of ancient, Apostolic, Eastern churches is known as Oriental Orthodox. The sister churches share the same essential doctrine and are in full communion with one another.
Saturday's Divine Liturgy will be hosted by His Eminence Archbishop Mor Tito Yeldho, Primate of the Malankara Archdiocese of the Syrian Orthodox Church in North America. He will preside over the Liturgy in the Syrian Rite with the full participation of the four bishops of the sister churches. Choirs from each church will also sing the sacred hymns of their respective traditions.
His Eminence Abp. Khajag Barsamian, Primate of the Eastern Diocese of the Armenian Church of America, will be participating in the Liturgy.
Hundreds of faithful from the parishes of the sister churches in the greater New York/New Jersey will be present to share in holy communion with each other and with Jesus Christ.
