Baton Rouge, Louisiana was ground zero for the most recent St. Nersess Mission Trip, which took place last weekend. Despite losing their leader at the last moment--Fr. Stepanos Doudoukjian, Director of Youth and Vocations was taken ill with strep throat and was unable to make the trip--the Mission went ahead as scheduled.
Standing in for Fr. Stepanos was first-year seminarian Stan Dikran Sheridan of Racine, Wisconsin. "I think I lost a few hairs," Stan said, exhausted but smiling on his return to St. Nersess late Sunday night. "But every member of the mission team stepped up and created an uplifting weekend both for the Louisiana Armenians and for us."
Making up the Baton Rouge Mission Team, in addition to Stan were: Antranig Khachatryan (St. Sarkis, Dallas TX), Matt Dalakian (St. Mary, Livingston, NJ), Andrea Gumushian (St. John's, Southfield, MI), Danny Mantis and Alex Ouzounian (St. Mesrob, Racine, WI).
